Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Tater Ridge

This is part of the 2014 Beer Camp Across America special release from Sierra Nevada Brewing of Chico, California. They invited breweries all across America to join in a collaboration brew with them and/or join them on their Beer Camp Tour with seven stops across the USA as their bus makes its way to the site of their new brewery in Mills River, NC (there is an eighth mini-camp at El Bait Shop in Des Moines, Iowa). The release features a mixed 12 pack of twelve unique beers, two in cans.

This beer is a 7.0% ABV Scottish ale that is brewed with sweet potatoes. It is made in collaboration with Asheville Brewers Alliance of Western North Carolina.

The beers chestnut brown, ruby and garnet. There is a half-inch of nearly creamy light tan head. The aroma is dank hops and sweet malt. The taste follows the aroma, deep malt, sweet with light peat smoke, and dank, earthy hops. It is full and smooth, but not heavy. There is a moderate bitterness on the finish that cuts the sweetness to dry. Understated, but very good.
