Central Waters Satin Solitude

This is an imperial stout from the Central Waters Brewing Company of Amherst, Wisconsin.

The beer pours black in appearance, just the slightest bit of translucency through dark brown if held up to the light. There is a relatively short head of light brown foam. The aroma is dark cocoa, mocha, a light tang of very dark fruits. Even the aroma seems “creamy.” The taste is very dark roasted malts, dark cocoa, a bit of char, with a nice dark fruit sweetness. The sweetness of the malt is immediately tempered and the finish is dry and lightly bitter. There is a subtle, tingling carbonation, but the beer also drinks smooth, and dare I say, satiny. This is one really nice stout.
