New Glarus Spotted Cow

The New Glarus Brewing Company is in New Glarus, Wisconsin. They are only distributed in Wisconsin. This is their "Wisconsin" farmhouse style ale, that uses a bit of corn, and is unfiltered, leaving the yeast in.

The beer pours a lightly hazed golden in color. There is a relatively short head of white foam that leaves light lacing down the glass. The aroma is fruity, citrusy, very light yeast esters, with a touch of honey-like sweetness. The taste follows the aromas, lightly tangy, fruity, very light banana, round and soft on the mouth with a hint of grain in the back. The beer drinks highly carbonated, crisp and refreshing. This is an Americanized and easy drinking take on the farmhouse ale.

Drinking one in early 2017 out of a can: The beer pours a hazy yellow. There is an inch of white, fluffy meringue-like head. The aroma is tangy citrus over toasted wheat. The taste follows the aromas, toasted grains, citrus, both tart and fruity, a bit like toast with a lemon jam. The finish is lightly dry with light bitterness. The beer drinks easy, smooth with soft carbonation. This is chuggable craft.
