Belhaven 90 Shilling Wee Heavy Scottish Ale

This 7.4% ABV Scottish Ale is from the Belhaven Brewery of Dunbar, Scotland. You can find a good explanation of the Shilling system HERE.

The beer pours dark brown, dark ruby and garnet in color. There is a short head of light beige foam. The aroma is sweet and smokey, peat and dark fruits, especially cherries. The taste follows the aromas, peat smoke, cherries and dark caramel. The beer drinks easy with tingling carbonation. The end is just this side of dry, with very little bitterness and a mineral note on the finish. This is one very nice Scottish Ale.
