Lagunitas Imperial Pils

This 8.6% ABV seasonal release is from the Lagunitas Brewing Company of Petaluma, California (and now with a brewery in Chicago, Illinois).

The beer pours golden and yellow in color. There is a tall, thick, foamy head of white. The aroma is pilsner funk, straw, grass, golden grain, along with a big jolt of tangy citrus. The taste follows the aromas note for note, a classic pils with a hoppy citrus kick at the end. There is some sweetness, but all the hops bring it to an overall dry end, with the finish being only moderately bitter for the pilsner style. The beer drinks easy and smooth, with tingling carbonation, hiding its imperial ABV. Nice!
